Tech Recruiter/Apprentice Program Manager

Location: Highlands Ranch, CO

Starting Pay: $65,000 base plus bonus per hire

What you’ll do:

The Technician Recruiter/Apprenticeship Program Manager oversees all aspects of Technician recruiting and growth. This person will Propose, Develop, Build, and Run Technician Recruiting, Advertising, Sourcing, Growth, and Apprentice plans. Working closely with each dealership to understand shop culture, performance standards, and staffing needs will be every day priorities. This person will also evaluate the market competition, leverage knowledge of the industry and profession to promote, incentivize and create Schomp as a talent magnet.

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:


  • Three years of technician and/or automotive dealer service experience
  • Desired experience in technical school recruiting and program management.
  • Strong people skills, with the ability to build relationships and large nationwide networks.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel, social media, Learning Management, and Applicant Tracking Systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains a database of market competition standards, benefits, incentives, and industry standards

  • Recommends strategies to increase competitive advantage in achieving the status of talent magnet

  • Utilize Social Media as a tool to connect with applicants, students, and future employees.

  • Plan recruiting events, visit schools to educate youth on automotive careers

  • Builds a network of technicians cross country for recommendations and relocations

  • Delivers regular reports regarding applicant flow, cost to hire, and apprenticeship performance

  • Partners with schools to build Apprenticeship programs and manages the growth of apprentices and mentors throughout the program

  • Helps manage the development of current technicians through OEM certifications

  • Develop Master techs to teach apprentices program requirements as certified teachers (long-term, sustainable, on-site apprentice program)

  • Partners with Marketing to develop materials to use for selling Schomp

  • Build relationships with the foremen and service managers to align candidates and apprentices for best fit. 

  • Handles recruitment and placement through all steps, schedule interviews, follow up to keep candidates warm, follows up with managers, extends offers and relocation agreements,

  • Provide feedback to leaders about why candidates decline offers, understands turnover, and collects all data to inform competitive standards and recommendations

  • Map out the apprenticeship master schedule each year, communicating starts to colleges, work with the instructors, and managing scheduling changes quarterly.

  • Manage school schedules quarterly and create cohorts, build courses in ATS/LMS, collect all required forms for each location for apprentice registration

  • Communicate with apprentices, build buy-in and excitement, check-in weekly on experience, learning and commitment.

  • Troubleshoot student performance issues, issues with online learning in conjunction with the mentor. Support struggling apprentices to continue with the program;

  • Oversee student safety awareness, maintain the Accident Prevention Plan
