Body Shop Estimator

Schomp Automotive is growing rapidly and we are in immediate need of a Body Shop Estimator for our Collision Center

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Body Shop Estimator provides our customers with the best customer experience possible.  The Body Shop Estimator is responsible for all communications with the clients. They are responsible for following service processes.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, as assigned.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Regular attendance and punctuality and is consistent with all Schomp Policies.
  • Walk around and inspect the vehicle to determine whether to repair or replace parts.
  • Check and verify all information is on RO.
  • Estimate cost of body work  and advise customers of timeline and recommended repairs
  • Collecting signature from customer approving to work on car
  • Be knowledgeable about collision repair and the cost of repairs.
  • Work with Collision Manager using word track and process of listening to customer needs, recommending repairs and scheduling vehicles in for agreed repairs.
  • Be able to accurately give a verbal repair plan for potential customers.
  • Understand insurance rates and rules to give an accurate estimate.
  • Knowledge of Body Shop rates and rules to give an accurate estimate.
  • Be able to use estimating software in the body shop to write detailed and accurate estimates.
  • Make sure all repair orders include a clear definition of the problem and are written legibly.
  • Verify that complaint, cause and correction are included on the repair order before release.
  • Follow all applicable safety and health procedures.

Job Required Skills and Knowledge

  • Valid Driver’s License
  •  Estimator experience
  •  Knowledge of Body Shop rates and rules to give an accurate estimate.
  • Understand insurance rates and rules to give an accurate estimate.
  • Be able to accurately give a verbal repair plan for potential customers.
  • Be knowledgeable about collision repair and the cost of repairs.

Education, Experience and Certification

  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Previous Body Shop Estimator experience required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and customer service experience.

  • Perform duties in all weather conditions
  • This position operates in a traditional dealership environment

Work Environment

  • This position operates in a professional dealership environment.
  • Evening and Saturday work will be required as job duties demand.  Hours of operation are between 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM including Saturdays. May work a variety of 9 hour shifts throughout the week.
  • Must maintain a clean, safe working environment at all times.
  • Must perform duties in all weather conditions.
