What You'll Do:

  • As an Automotive Technician / Mechanic, you will Service vehicles in a timely manner for routine scheduled maintenance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Automotive Parts Specialist is responsible to accurately and efficiently specify and fill correct parts for technicians, retail, and wholesale customers; at all times providing an exceptional customer experience.

  • Punctual and regular attendance.
  • Handle orders and request for information efficiently via telephone and over-the-counter customer by understanding the manufacturer’s parts system and ordering procedures.
  • Responsible to accurately specify and identify parts needed to meet customer requirements, so that number of parts returns due to errors is low.
  • Promote the sale of appropriate parts and accessories by accurately identifying the customer’s needs and promoting the benefits of using genuine OEM parts.
  • Maintain accurate sales and inventory records of all invoiced items.  Accurately cost out parts and accessories on counter tickets and repair orders.
  • Generate goodwill by greeting and serving every customer anywhere on dealership property courteously and promptly.  Listen for and answer phones in expedient manner.
  • Provide a high level of personal service to internal, wholesale, and retail customers by assisting them in identifying and obtaining needed parts.
  • Establish on ongoing support relationship with wholesale customers by answering questions and assisting them in obtaining needed parts. 
  • Follow-up on special order items; notify the customer and technician when received.
  • Follow-up the sales process by issuing parts and accessories to technicians and preparing and pulling orders for delivery and will call.
  • Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of counters, displays, shelves, bins, and customer contact areas by following good housekeeping procedures.
  • Customer Relations: attentive to customer needs and responsive to customer inquiries where appropriate.
  • Model professionalism and approach all situations as a representative of the company.
  • Team Effort: Demonstrates a concern for meeting departmental needs through activities such as accepting overtime work, following up on needed parts, helping other technicians and training apprentices.

The ideal candidate will have Mercedes-Benz Commercial Van/Sprinter service experience.  The Diesel Technician will contribute to an efficient and profitable service department.  Recent experience with Mercedes-Benz dealership is preferred, but not required.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Mercedes-Benz of Farmington management team.

JOB RESPONSIBILIITES 

The Commercial Van/Sprinter Technician is responsible for troubleshooting vehicle issues and fixing them; well-versed in complex mechanical or electrical systems of vehicles; excellent problem-solving abilities; must be a good communicator, able to explain to customers issues with their vehicle; at all times providing an exceptional customer experience.  Must have a minimum of 2 years Commercial Van/Sprinter Service Technician experience!    

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

  • Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles

  • National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications or certifications in different specialized areas such as: brakes, electrical/electronic systems or engine performance preferred.

  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers, vendors, and staff

  • Safety and customer service oriented

  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed

  • Professional appearance and work ethic.

  • High degree of self-motivation with solid work habits.

  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

  • Maintain a good working relationship with the service advisors and managers to effectively, efficiently, and positively communicate ideas and information. Maintain a clean and professional appearance and work environment.

  • Conduct oneself in a manner that brings credit to the dealership. Dress in a manner that is in accordance with dealership policy.

  • Be a problem-solver who will do what it takes to get our customers the results they need. 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Prior experience as an diesel technician and thorough technical training. 

  • Mechanical skills must be sufficient to diagnose and repair given sufficient product training.

  • The ability to work independently with limited supervision and the motivation to continually increase technical skills should be evident.

  • Exceptional time management skills.

  • A team-player attitude and the ability to get along well with individuals from all walks of life.

  • Prepare customer vehicles for delivery following service.
  • Pick-up and return customer vehicles from their home or office for service.
  • Clean driveway and sidewalks, removing snow and debris as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by management.

  • Must work in all weather conditions.
